

Oxford Subdivision – Yard of the Month Judging Criteria
The Yard of the Month program is designed to recognize and celebrate residents who demonstrate exceptional pride in maintaining beautiful, clean, and welcoming yards. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Core Evaluation Categories
Lawn Health
Grass should be well-maintained, regularly mowed, edged, green, and free of weeds, patches, and debris. 1–5 or 1–10
Flower Beds
Beds should be free of weeds and debris, neatly mulched, and include healthy, well-maintained plants. 1–5 or 1–10
Overall Curb Appeal
Yard creates a clean, cohesive, and inviting look from the street; no clutter or neglected areas visible. 1–5 or 1–10
Creativity & Design
Includes thoughtful features such as symmetry, seasonal color, accents, or unique yard elements. 1–5 or 1–10
Bonus Categories (If Applicable)
Planters
If planters are used, they should be neat, maintained, and free of weeds or debris. ±1 or ±2
Additional Landscaping
Flowers or shrubs outside of flower beds should be healthy, tidy, and enhance the overall yard. ±1 or ±2
Hardscape Features
Walkways, borders, mulch lines, or decorative stones are clean, well-placed, and in good condition. ±1 or ±2
Scoring Breakdown
Standard Scale Option:
• Core categories scored 1–5 each (Max 20 points)
• Bonus categories can adjust score by up to ±6 points
• Maximum Score: 26 points
Selection Notes
• Judges will score yards based on overall curb appeal, cleanliness, creativity, and consistent maintenance.
• Yards must be visible from the street. Backyard areas will not be considered.
• Properties must be free of trash, clutter, excessive weeds, and in good repair.
• Previous winners are not eligible again for a minimum of 1 MONTH to ensure broad community participation.
• All judging is conducted in good faith to highlight neighbors making a positive impact on the beauty of the Oxford Subdivision.
