There has been a lot of controversy and conflicting information surrounding the Neighborhood common area. The HOA 7 (Board of Directors and Officers) decided to do some digging and see what we could learn about our common area.
Our common area can be accessed from the pedestrian path located at the end of Thornley Court (between 113 Thornley Court and 114 Thornley Court). While many residents believed that the smaller clearing was the extent of our common area, we have found that almost 4 acres of land belongs to the Oxford HOA. This land includes wooded land and cleared land.
In 2016/2017, the Board of Directors began working on developing and improving our common area. They worked to fix drainage issues with the area, which included creating ditches and placing concrete pipes to assist in the flow of water. With the use of heavy machinery and a crew, they were successful in this endeavor. Land was cleared, pipes were installed, and sod was laid to improve the common area. The field was maintained well with regular mowing and weed spray. Unfortunately, over the years, the common area was neglected and began growing up (especially in the wooded areas).
The 2025-2026 Board and its Officers have a meeting set up to further discuss with the City what the possibilities are in our Common Area. Phone calls have already been made, with questions answered. While no permanent structures can be installed (in ground pool or community clubhouse), there is potential for future development of amenities. We have been brainstorming ideas for a 5+ year project that will take place over time as to not cause a massive financial burden on the HOA funds or the community. Like all good things, it will take time and cooperation.
We held an informational data mining "meeting" with the community at the end of June to ask the community what it would like to see done with the land. At a minimum, it should be regularly maintained (grass cut). We would like to see it improved over time to bring amenities to the community that will improve property values and bring an asset to the residents. More information about this to come!
We have a survey in your PayHOA portal asking for YOUR ideas. We want to hear about what's important to you. A dog park? A playground? Seating options (benches)? Let us know, so we can look further into the possibilities.
Wondering what we have to work with? Wonder no more. The satellite image and plat line overlay are included for your viewing! :)
